1950s formal white tie waistcoat with a cotton pique Marcella weave front with rounded lapels. Bears a label for the manufacturer Alkit of Cambridge Circus, London.
The waistcoat itself is in excellent vintage condition with no wear to the Marcella or fraying. I have added three contemporaneous carved mother of pearl, brass shanked studs.The backs fit into a cotton lined recess to prevent rubbing on the shirt and there is an elastic loop which is designed to button onto the trouser.The waistcoat straps are of a woven cotton that fasten via a buckle mid back.The buckle is in good clean condition with no rusting to the steel.
There is no size label, but I believe this will fit a 38 chest.
Condition:Very good vintage, freshly laundered.
This household had a cat untilrecently, so you may wish to relaunder before wearing.
