A charming antique Victorian period 14k gold, gold filled and black enamel mourning stick pin. The oval head with a black enamel center inset with a Rose of Sharon in gold which is set and set witha ruby and two seed pearls. With further black enamel band.
The stick in gold filled only, with grooves and a gold tone stopper.
Unmarked. The head of the pin acid tested as 14k gold, 585 standard gold.

A charming mourning pin with sadly an area of damage to the enamel to the left hand side, see photos, which has been repaired and shows as a slightly green color.
In the language of flowers, the rose of Sharon expresses the meaning “consumed by love.” It is also known as the “endless flower”, representing eternity.
