Sweet Gum wands will generally choose an owner with an outgoing, cordial, and kind personality. This does not mean that the witch or Wizard with a sweet gum wand doesn’t have a slight edge under a kind exterior.
Sweet gum is very common wood but the wand produced from it is quite the opposite. Most witches and wizards with this wand are known to be charismatic and unique. Performing spells that help and heal.

Thunderbird Down Cores generally produce the most consistent magic. They are equally offensive, defensive, creative and destructive.
Wands with Thunderbird cores can be used in both the Dark Arts and normal magic, and have no leaning in either direction.
They are the most faithful of all wands, and will not work very well for a new owner if the wand is won in combat.
Thunderbird Down Cores often perform magic comparable to the user. The stronger the witch or wizard, the stronger the magic will be.
A particularly strong owner will produce magic comparable to the Wendigo Horn while a weak owner will find the core produces much diminished spells.
A wizard who is particularly good at healing will find their healing spells incredibly powerful, while a witch who is good at defensive magic will have spells that repel almost anything.
