PAIR of HAIR PENDANTS – 2 Long Vintage Afghan Hair-Pendants with Forehead Chain and Charms – Handcrafted Kuchi Tribal Jewelry

This PAIR of Afghan tribal headpiece-pendants with forehead chain was handcrafted during the mid-1900’s for the nomadic Kuchi tribe of Central Asia.

This is vintage tribal-jewelry, not a new reproduction.

Dramatic hair-pendants like these have been worn throughout Central Asia for centuries.

They were known by various names, including dogachik, temple jewelry, chakalik, and tenechir headpieces.

Each of these vintage hair-pendants has a sturdy, bead-studded triangle on top, with a wide embedded-hook for attaching to other headpieces, veils, or directly to the hair (as in manikin image).

Long chain-dangles with charms on their ends hang freely below, fringed with distinctive Kuchi accents.

A similar chain spans the forehead, with a small jhumki-dome in the center.

In excellent condition, this Kuchi 2-pendant headpiece has a rich age-patina and mild wear-patterns. Patina tends to reflect the light when photographed, so this item may be darker than appears in pics.

As with most old tribal-jewelry pieces, a few of the small beads and/or charms may be missing.
